Is the soul and the spirit the same thing? Depends on who you ask and what religion or culture. Don’t worry, this is not a debate. However, I like the way this is explained from Open Bible:
Your soul speaks of your inner-life in relation to your own experience: your mind, heart, will, and imagination. It also includes your thoughts, desires, passions, and dreams. But your spirit speaks of the same inner-life in relation to God: your faith, hope, love, character, and perseverance.
The soul in my religion can die or live. The spirit is thought to be eternal. Well, this year of YOU tells me that BOTH NEED TENDING TO. For some there will be addition, transformation, and evolutions. Maybe, even revolutions and emancipation. But focusings on your soul and spirit is part of focusing on you. Improving these things will facilitate a better world and allow you to help others in “such a time as this”.
Also, the soul and spirit must be protected from the poison of society. While we cannot, and it’s not recommended, to isolate or pretend nothing is happening, you have to turn off the noise. Turn up the good. Turn up the beauty. Immerse in the good things that are happening to you, for others, and around you.
Spend time in good environments. Surround yourself with good, positive, inspirational, motivational people. Listen, I like to be surrounded by calm people and pleasant attitudes. If you religion or spiritual practice breeds love then get into it, lean into it.
