Feeling like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? Yes. Do you want it to be gone? Yes. Well, good news and news. I didn’t say bad news for a reason. So, here is the news. There are weights in life that only you can carry because you were made to carry them and those weights not only make you stronger they raise you to higher heights. If you have made it through some unbearable things in your life, you can make it through this. If you are making it through, healing through it or after it, you will be able to help others make it through to the other side. There is wisdom in your weight. It changes your paradigm. It changes your character. It creates resilience. It gives you courage. And much more. Only you have the capacity to bear this weight. Don’t let that make you think EVERYONE should have it because they don’t. And don’t let this make your ego swell and boast about how you carried the weight. You didn’t bear that weight alone.

Now, the good news. Some of the weight you are bearing may not be your weight to carry! You need to lay aside weight that does not belong to you. You’ve got enough responsibilities of your own. You need to allow others to carry their weight. It’s okay to assist if you can but it’s not okay if you take their burdens, their weight and carry it all. You are weakening them. And in many cases, they are not as concerned about the weight as you are. When you take the weights, the responsibilities from others you can cripple them. How will they survive without you? We all must learn to bear our weights, to lift our own weights.

Imagine if we are in a gym and your child is getting ready to lift his or her assigned weight and you run over and lift it for them. They will never become strong or will have to become strong late in life without you.

More good news: God will send you a spotter. This is someone that can help you to lift or carry the weight. This is someone that will help you if things get too heavy. They will remove the weight if it falls on you. In my religion, we call this the Holy Spirit. In life, this can be a friend or stranger that may not be carrying much weight at the time. Or they may be able to help you through this particular time. But you cannot expect them to show up every time. And you must remember to show up for them, too. They cannot however, go through it like you go must for through it. They are your support. The support can come in the form of wisdom, a quote, a message, a song, a good talk, etc.

Either way, you will eventually, if open, if healed, be able to reap the wisdom from the weights in your life. Do me a favor, leave some wisdom in the comments from some of the weights you have had to carry.

My wisdom, is from diabetes. A doctor told me once:

when you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, you will take care of your diabetes.

Nothing else is more profound. I finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Best decision I ever made.
