Thieves in the Temple comes to mind as I am typing this. It’s a song by Prince. “Love come quick. Love come in a hurry. There are thieves in the temple tonight. They don’t care where they kick. Just as long as they hurt you. There are thieves in the temple tonight.”

What’s (Who’s) in your temple? Your sanctuary? Your sacred, powerful, holy, creative , emotional space? The total YOU this year is about includes your creativity, your relationships (all), and emotions. Ah, yes, there will be some turbulent waters in this area. I recall in my teen years through my late 20’s if my “love life” was on the rocks so was my creativity. I couldn’t write. My mojo would be on life support. And as an adult, if the relationship is seriously rocky, intimacy is the last thing on my mind. So, you see the connection or maybe as the partner in a intimate relationship, if YOU have been the one causing the small tares or large rips, it’s no wonder the other person is just not that into you lately.

This can happen in friendships and families. This could be jobs and career related. Maybe you have a bully boss that you need to report to HR. Maybe you are in a church that is dead to you and you dread going every Sunday or Saturday. If it’s intimate, and that is more than sexual, it will be looked at WITHIN YOU and not so much the other person. What will YOU DO about it?

I eventually learned to move through and over rocky relationships and not to let it affect my creativity in a debilitating way. But, that did not translate into other relationships with friends and family. Guess what? I am working on some of that currently. And you know what is helping me tremendously? A book by Mel Robbins titled, “The Let Them Theory” and also therapy. Yep. Therapy. And I can’t forget God is helping me as well through my preferred spirituality and through the books I am reading and through my therapist. I know right. Temple blowing!
