Sunday Morning Coffee Musings: Stop Healing and Start Living?

We, some of us who have been on this planet for some time, have seen some things, lived some things. Actually, we are all seeing and living through some unimaginable times. This message isn’t for those who have recently begun their healing journey. And by begun, I mean come into awareness that they do need some healing. It’s not so much about age because you can be 30 beginning or you can be 60 beginning. If this is you, keep going.

This is more about those who may have become so engrossed in healing, pulling the layers of life back, they forget to live. They forget to enjoy life. I may have ran across this video that talked about people getting high off the dopamine of “enlightenment” and “aha” moments. They keep searching or finding things they believe they need to heal from. I have thought I needed to heal from everything. I thought there is no end to this healing journey. There isn’t. But not everything has to be healed or needs to be healed. You don’t have to research, bring it up in therapy, take it to the altar, work on it. You just have to be aware of some things and govern yourself accordingly.

It would upset me at times thinking, “Oh my god, I have to heal from that, too?” But now I understand this peeling back the onion better. In my opinion, onions add flavor to meals. Onions add depth and even texture to soup and stews. We peel back the outer layer of an onion but if we keep peeling back the layers, we won’t have much of the onion left. We can keep pulling back the layers of life. We can be so focused on “why am I like this?” or “how can I get over this?” that we never look up and look around and realize there is much to enjoy or much to do or be in the life we are living right now. You can journey through life, living and thriving and healing at the same time. And some things you just need to know. It’s like a clue on the map of your life. Go left, turn right, at this landmark you will do this or that. None of that needs to be investigated. It needs to be followed or not.
