Compositions of my life energy

November Notes: Sursum Corda

Psalm 25:1– Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. There is this ancient saying that was used in worship or in the temples, “Sursum Corda”! It means “up with your hearts”. I feel individually and collectively the United States, and this world, is coming to a place where we will be put into a position where we will lift up our souls or hearts. There will be a great reckoning for Christianity and many other religions, ideals, belief systems and humanity. And like I said, a great reckoning for us individually.

This is the test. This is the trial and tribulation. We had demolition. We had rest. And now we have reformation. Reformation is the process of making changes in something such as political, social, and economical practices or institutions TO IMPROVE IT. I kinda laughed because this does not look like improvement! In my personal life, I thought the same thing. But reformation (transformation or evolution) is not a nice, neat, little change. It is huge. It is loud. It is trial and error. And well, buckle up because it’s about to get uglier. When a framework is going up, you can’t tell what is what. This is the framework. This is leveling. I don’t know how the world will turn out. I do know how I will turn out.

There will be a lot of SURSUM CORDA, a lifting up of hearts like an offering because hearts will be hurting. Hearts will be breaking. There will be helpless moments and all some can do is lift up their hearts in sorrow. But, there are those of us that are called to such a time as this and we will fight with broken hearts and in spite of despair. The funny thing about setbacks is the greater the setback, the greater the comeback.

Sursum corda
