Who enjoys going to orientation on a job? Mostly no one. It’s necessary (or is it? ha!) because you know nothing or very little about this new job or new process or product. You must painfully sit through all of the lectures and legalities and Bob asking redundant questions making the time slow down all the more.
I’m recently in a new place and space in my life (mentally, spiritually, emotionally). I’ve never been here before and I’m at a bit of a loss as to which way to go, how to proceed. I’m discovering something new daily it seems. It feels like I am bumbling and stumbling (and yes mumbling) because I don’t know what to do now! As I was in bed this morning talking/praying it came to me, consider this period of becoming acclimated as orientation. Relax. Pay attention. Listen. Take notes. Next up is on the job training.
If you are in a new place or space, physically, mentally, spiritually it’s okay to feel lost. It’s okay to feel some anxiety or even depression. It feels weird because it’s different! You may question your decision or why you ended up where you are. Especially, if it was forced or out of your control. Take several breaths and remember you are right where you need to be and this is NEW. You need time to feel it out, to get your bearings and whits about you. This is orientation time. I hope you brought pen and paper or pull up the notes on your phone. It’s going to be a doozy.
