I don’t know how I came across this particular YouTuber, Silver and Solo, but it was the title of her video that caught my attention. The title was, “Don’t Waste the Youth of Your Senior Years.” I’m not a senior, yet, but I value the wisdom of seniors or elders because why not be wise enough to learn from them at any age? The video, which I will link below, was about strategic living to have an enjoyable and fulfilling retirement. I hope to help my daughter learn from the youth of my middle age and younger age as she begins to navigate adulthood as a young adult.

Anyway, I was thinking about the YOUTH of our years no matter what age group you are lumped into. The saying is not to waste the youth of your younger years. But if you think about it, there is a sense of “youth”, vitality and vulnerability, naiveness and knowledge at every age after those teen years. There are times of opportunities to “manage” life. There are times to be active in how you want to live your life from where you are NOW. If the NOW is 25 or if the NOW is 65, it really doesn’t matter. The point of the video was about PREPARING to ENJOY your RETIREMENT. I highly suggest you take a listen. It gave me some things to think about and to do. Of course if you plan earlier it will be easier. But it’s really never too late, as long as you are in your right mind and able bodied (even if the able body has aches and pains), to utilize the “youth” of your age. Time you have left is the YOUTH of your age.

My spiritual mom is in her late 70’s. She utilizes the YOUTH of her senior years by still studying the Word of God and having online Bible Studies and the Study of the Torah. She does this twice a week. She even had a blog that I ran for her for about 3 years. She also has a YouTube Channel she uses from time to time. I find that amazing. She thinks, “I am not done yet. I am not finished yet. I still have life in me and I have so much to give.” I like that kind of thinking. It exudes “life” or “vitality” that we associate with YOUTH.

That’s a really great concept. We probably need to forget about numbers and still live well and live young (or as young as physically possible). I think adults forget to have fun too. Playtime is okay no matter how old you are. I’m not planning on retiring. I hope to keep living and serving God with all the energy I have until he takes me Home.
