If you are having trouble changing maybe it’s because you are trying to change with an old mindset. Therefore, you need a “renewed” mind. While there are many components to change, because change is a process, this is just one of many steps. In the Book of Ephesians chapter 3, the author Paul writes: “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds”. In the book of Romans, the same author writes, “Be transformed (changed) by the renewal of your mind”.
Your brain and your mind are not the same thing. The mind has a spirit. I believe you are that spirit that embodies a mind. I do believe the brain has habitual patterns that we have consciously and subconsciously trained. Those patterns can be a challenge and very difficult to break. I think that when you are trying to change, evolve, or develop different habits without adopting a new mindset it becomes more of a struggle than it has to be. To renew your mind or to be renewed in the spirit of your mind is to adopt a new way of thinking along with your new habits or patterns you are trying to change.
Reminding myself that I have gone through an evolution as of last year helps me to adapt to new ways or patterns. Affirmations and meditation help me. Listening to audios or videos about my present situation or where I want to go in life helps develop my new mindset. All of these things do, including reading as well. A new mindset has to be developed. Be gentle and patient with yourself.
