Box breathing is a powerful but simple relaxation technique that aims to return breathing to its usual rhythm after a stressful experience. It involves breathing in and out and holding the breath. It may help clear the mind, relax the body, and improve focus. -Medical News Today

Confession; my least favorite part of meditation or yoga is a breathing exercise. However, it has benefited me by making my shallow, short, choppy breaths deeper and stronger and it has helped to control my breathing. So, naturally, I was opposed to any other breathing techniques as I cannot seem to sit still long enough to focus on my breath. I am learning. I am trying. Yet, I had to learn some coping skills concerning my breathing when I have panic or anxiety attacks. It’s not often. Especially now because I can most of the time “feel” it coming on. Actually, the breathing helps prevent them or not making them so intense.

This has become one of my favorites, box breathing. Another one I like is the nostril breathing technique. It helps clears the mind and sinuses. It helps with a sinus headache as well. Eases the tension some. Here is how box breathing works.

It’s really just this simple.
