There is this gospel song I would hear when I was a child and I remembered the chorus, “My soul’s been anchored, my soul’s been anchored, anchored in the Lord” and the voice was deep, strong, a man. I later found out this song was song by Douglas Miller. My dad really liked this song. They song it in many churches and in special services as solos. I had no idea what it meant but, it seemed to be a calming and reassuring melody.

When a ship (you), is anchored, it’s not going anywhere. Storms and winds blow but, if the ship is anchored properly, it’s not going anywhere. Well, it’s a metaphor for being anchored in your faith or belief. I encourage you to become more clear, more familiar, or to reconnect to your faith or belief system. MAKE CERTAIN it is a healthy one. Make certain you are reading what you are hearing and you are getting a clear understanding of what your faith or belief is. Don’t rely solely on what you are fed once a week but check the ingredients. Does your soul, heart, mind, gut, intuition connect or is there something off? Don’t take things at face-value just because a “leader” said it. CHECK.

I don’t know much about other religions but, I know if it teaches hate, division, elitism, evil, greed, wrong, superiority, it’s probably not something you would want to be anchored in. Anchor yourself among other ships and make sure they are anchored in love and from love flows good things. Make certain you anchor in a ground that is secure and solid. Nothing can shake you loose, break you apart. Oh, it may get ugly but, you are secured in a power, an energy, that cannot be destroyed. Your faith system is greater than the powers that be. Your faith system is not a power, it is the power. It’s not a power that “be” or exists for four years, a decade and then is gone or changed. It is the power that is eternal.

So, as the world turns inside out, upside, round and round (Diana Ross’ song Upside Down started playing in my head) your not easily moved and capsized in fear, anger, or dispair. You are anchored in TRUTH, in LOVE, in the ETERNAL.
