Well, well, sometimes I wish that I
Wished I could tell you, tell you the thoughts
Tell you the thoughts that I’m thinking
Brown eyed girl, if I could deal with it
Baby, I would tell it all now
Been writing you letter that unfolds
Telling you secrets of my soul
Brown eyed girl
Brown eyed girl
Brown eyed girl
When I was a baby, my grandmother told my mom my eyes were navy blue. It became a soft battle of if my eyes were black as my mom said or if they were navy blue as my granny said. Of course, I was a baby and only know this because I was told this as child. I thought they were black for a long time as child until one day I saw my eyes in a mirror that caught the sun and I saw my eyes were brown! I was shocked! I discovered later on through science that no one has “black” eyes but very dark brown eyes. My eyes lighten to a brown I imagine as I got a little older. I say that because people can see them now.
I also discovered that people can have navy blue eyes and they can change. So, I am just going to go with granny and say I have navy blue eyes when I was born and they changed. Science backs a old country Mississippi gal with natural remedies and who helped deliver babies.
This song is such a beautiful romantic song and the lyrics that touch me the most is when he sings
“Been writing you letter that unfolds
Telling you secrets of my soul” and the chorus just moves me/you. I heard this as young girl as I discovered the Isley Brothers and became a huge fan. So much so, I thought they would be able to sing at my wedding whenever I got married. I think it’s the telling you secrets of my soul that moves me because I have always wanted, since a young age, to have someone to share the secrets of my soul with and who would do the same for me.
