In 1988 I was 13 years old and this song was blasting through speakers everywhere. I thought Sade was her name but later on in life I learned it was the name of the band! However, today people still call her Sade (sha-dey). I have been in love with Sade the band and “her” since the song Smooth Operator and it’s smooth, brassy horn intro. Her voice is AH-MAZ-ING. No one can forget her beauty and iconic red lipstick in that video!

About a decade ago, I went to a Sade concert in my city BY MYSELF! It was the best concert I’d seen and experienced. It is truly an experience. The crowd was captivated the entire time. The simplicity in the lyrics of this song and the fast pace of the music is a match made in “paradise”. It gives movement and you don’t have to think to hard about the lyrics.

Try this. Hit the play button on the link below and close your eyes and listen to the song and feel the music. It’s as if the music grabs you by the hand and says come on, let’s move, let’s go, let’s dance.

I’d wash the sand off the shore
Give you the world if it was mine
Blow you right to my door
Mmm-mmm, feels fine

Feels like you’re mine
Feels right, so fine
I’m yours, you’re mine
Like paradise

I’d give you the world if it was mine

Feels fine
Feels like you’re mine
I’m yours, so fine
Like paradise
