The A to Z Challenge theme this year is “Aspirations: Blogging hopes, dreams, and goals.” I have decided to align somewhat in the same vein of the theme. We are allowed to do whatever theme we want and I usually do but, I thought about what could I write about in alignment with the theme. I didn’t want to write about my own hopes, dreams, and goals because well, I write about that quite a bit on my blog.
Here’s something I have always wondered about; when I think of philosophers, why do I only think of Greek philosophers? It was what was in my book when I was in high school. The ones that were considered the greats. Why are there only men mentioned when it comes to philosophy? When we talk intellectuals and brilliant minds, rarely are women in the conversations. I often wonder what did Greek women philosophy about? What about women in India? Africa? Asia? The Americas? What about Mexican women, African American women, women from the Netherlands, Ireland, Nova Scotia? Where are the brilliancy of women highlighted in books? As books in America are being banned because of the fragility of some White Americans currently in power.
So, let’s look at the minds of brilliant women, philosophers from anywhere I can find. I’m looking at poets, authors, religious leaders, political, as those in these groups also have what I call a “philosophy spirit”. I have no idea what I will discover and that is the thrill of it. I will perhaps take something from a quote or summery and expound on it. Maybe a word or concept. Who’s up for an adventure? No hiking gear, passport, or money needed. Only open minds allowed. I’m kind of excited. Am I still a nerd? Yes. LOL
