Sunday Morning Coffee Musings: Apple Trees

Dreams. So many dreams lately and it is reminding of my childhood. I dreamed all the time. I use to dream every night and I have those times still. My dreams are pretty steady as an adult but, sometimes I am flooded with them. Now seems to be the time and I love it.

In one of these dreams I was on the phone with my cousin. I was complimenting her on the garden she grew in her backyard (currently, she has no garden). I told her I only have an apple tree in my room. It was on my nightstand, in a blue pot, and it was growing with apples. I saw red apples and I saw one change from green to red. I then told her I also wanted to grow tomatoes.

Apple trees have been wrongly associated by Christians as sinful. The Bible never said Eve ate an apple. As we broaden our perspectives and minds and learn to think critically and spiritually, looking into the deep, we learn more about the significance or symbolism of an apple tree. After all, God gives us dreams or dreams can come from our own subconscious thoughts, thoughts of the day or worries of the future. It can come what some call the devil or evil or negative feelings. It can even come from watching or listening to something before bed!

Any…who…I found it to mean for me without going into too much detail a symbol or message of prosperity, abundance, endurance, truth and love. Apple trees have been given the name “the tree of love”. This tree in my dream was growing in my room on my nightstand next to where I sleep. It was in my intimate, sacred space. A place where I rest. It was growing. (As I am typing, a red bird is in my view in my Azalea bush).

Among other things, I do not think I will be able to keep it, this prosperity, abundance, endurance, truth, and love contained within me. I think as an apple tree, or any tree is meant to be seen by many. Eventually, it will grow beyond a pot and burst through walls and roof. It will need to be planted in the ground where roots can grow. There is something about it being contained and in a sacred space for now and being “moved” to an outward space.

What a dream! I told my cousin that I also wanted to grow tomatoes. Let me search that, too and wait for confirmation.

  2. do you know that all apple seeds only grow crab apples? Its true, to get types of apples you have to find a branch with the apple you want on it and graft it into your apple tree. That is why for instance all HoneyCrisp apples are twins of themselves. It is also why a new variety can spread so quickly.

It is a great plant. My dad had a single tree that grew 10 different apple types.

    1. WOW! I never knew!
