Who needs a little spiritual warfare alongside of their coffee this morning? No one. No one wants it or needs it alongside of coffee or anywhere in their life. But for those of us who are spiritual beings (and I believe we all are), there is this battle, war, thing we describe as spiritual warfare. The best way and the shortest way to define it is as a battle over one’s soul. You may be thinking about the movie, The Exorcist but I am not talking about that type of battle. Or am I? Anyway, I am thinking of times when one has to heavily “fight” for their peace of mind and a piece of mind, overall peace, restoration, retrieval over their minds, bodies, spirit, soul, and so on. And maybe even fighting for someone who cannot fight for themselves or who needs help fighting for themselves. It’s like advocating with a vengeance, with might, with all you’ve got. It’s heavy artillery with scriptures, oil, Holy Water, pleading the blood, prayer, meditation, mantras, affirmations, and so on and so forth. You may even have others join you.
Think of a parent not giving up on a teenager that has connected themselves to a bad group of friends. Think of a person trying rehabilitate from substance abuse. Think of a person trying to leave an abusive relationship and doing warfare in their minds to beat back the fear. Well, spiritual warfare could be what we are dealing with in murderous cities in America. It could be what we are dealing with the dark souls of politics. Or it could be you dealing with you or you dealing with a person, job, thing in your life that is pure hell. You want to extinguish that fire but it keeps popping up. It’s like a trick candle except this is no joke. This is real life.
This week on my personal social media platform I posted about spiritual warfare and demonic activity. While narcism is a psychological behavior, it is also A SPIRIT according to my religion. It is both in my opinion. I spoke about preparing to deal with this situation, person, and boy, you would have thought I decided to do it haphazardly or that it was something foreign to those of my Faith. Maybe it is. Maybe these days, some leaders and bodies of my faith are one big spirit of narcism. And maybe people are so mean and miserable because they do not battle (deal with) the things that are giving them hell in public and in private, without and within.
Well, I didn’t really care much about what they thought. I wasn’t asking for thoughts. I was asking for prayer. I was asking for those who wanted to suit up, to suit up. I was asking for those who could to stand in the gap to stand. I was not preparing to make my mind up, that was already done. I was and I am preparing for a battle I will win. It’s already won. It’s not about flesh and blood, it’s about darkness, principalities, authorities, evil, evil powers of this world. You know, somewhere along the lines of RIGHT and WRONG. JUST and UNJUST. We are quick to fly off the handle, quick to plot wickedness but slow to stand up for right or to plan out right action.
If you ever have dealt with a narcissistic spirit or personality, you know this is tumultuous territory. The way to WIN is to STAND, BE STEADFAST, ABOUNDING in the WORD and to DETACH. Saul and Jezebel usually come to their own demise.
Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through, or these uncircumcised fellows will come and run me through and abuse me.” But his armor-bearer was terrified and would not do it; so Saul took his own sword and fell on it.
Jezebel’s Violent Death
30 Now when Jehu had come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window. 31 Then, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, “Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?”
32 And he looked up at the window, and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” So two or three eunuchs looked out at him. 33 Then he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot. 34 And when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.” 35 So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the Lord, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; 37 and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.”
What is working within them, usually works against them.
