Organization. The Little Things.

20190917_143535

I admit it. One of the things that I can never seem to keep organized is nail polish and all of the things that I need to do my own manicure and pedicure. It’s more of a challenge for me than ever to do my own pedi and mani because of the problems I have with my hands. I will go to a nail shop when I have the money and when I do not, I have to grin and bear doing it myself.

Which leads me to organization. I know it doesn’t look like having my nail polish in a crate, piled on top each other is “neat”, but I don’t mind it not being organized by color. I am just happy to have it all in one space! So,  I had a tub laying around and decided to put all things pedi and mani in it and add my crate to it. After I gather things from everywhere (linen closet, different buckets, and my room. I now store this underneath the bathroom sink. I actually had NOTHING under there. DUH ME.

Fashion Confetti: Fashion Find

Oh yes! It was a steal! 72% off the original price. The dress is by Thalia’s. I got it from Macy’s on the clearance rack (where I mostly live). the bag is by Jessica Simpson and it’s the perfect everyday black bag for me! It’s from TJ Maxx and the shoes are also from there, by Calvin Klein. Why spend a lot of money if you don’t have to if you can still walk away with quality clothing? I love a sale and a clearance rack!

Make Up Haul. On Clearance Of Course!

20190125_202844_Film1

Make up can be expensive and there is nothing better than beauty blogging when you can do it on a budget. Along with a few beauty products, here is some make up I got on clearance and marked down.

20190125_202820_Film1

I had to “face” it. I could no longer put off the fact that it was time for some new brushes, but I wasn’t going to go in depth or sacrifice quality. Plus, I’m not a MUA, but I like to put on make up every now and then. I found these at TJ Maxx for a reasonable price and the makeup was on the clearance rack. $4.50.

I found this at Target and I usually grab things like this in advance for Mother’s Day to give as gifts to single mothers. I got a few and one for myself! I tried the scrub and I do like it.

20190128_163057_Film1.jpg20190128_163115_Film1.jpg And while nosing around in basket on the end caps of Target, I came across all of this! Oh yes! I felt like I’d hit a mini haul scratch off ticket. Really great polish for less. I can’t recall paying full price for expensive polish unless I REALLY needed the color.

It’s time to clean put my make up drawers and add these finds in.

Weekend Confetti!

38392464_10157685385668266_5123566225128947712_n

WOW! What a weekend! I met one of my favorite, most influential authors of all time and got the last book of a series signed. I met Kimberla Lawson Roby! It was her book Casting the First Stone that led me to believe it was possible to be a Christian and still write novels with a spiritual undertone. My novels may be a bit more unconventional as far as most Christians would think, but I am not really concerned about that! I have my own path to take. Anyway, I was over the moon and treasure the book and the moment. My daughter was there to help me stand in a very long line. Some day I’ll be signing books!

I also went out for cocktails and small plates with…brace yourself, my daughter’s father mother….and his wife. Yep. You read that right. As a single parent, the road has not always been easy and neither are the relationships involved with raising my daughter. Some of our thoughts, actions, and ways are different and well that makes for conflicts of interests. It was extremely rough starting out, but we try to get along and sitting down with all of together was a miracle within itself. Conversation, cocktails, and food made it a pleasant outing.

Oh, yeah. I got a new hairstyle! Lol! I think it may last for a few weeks. Natural hair can be a challenge. Especially, for someone like me who has Rheumatoid Disease and Fibromyalgia. Which took a toll on me by the time Sunday rolled around. I felt so bad, but I am grateful for the two days, Friday and Saturday, in which I had little discomfort. Sunday was very difficult and I am feeling better on today. I hope you enjoyed your weekend, too!

Makeup Haul

I love to go makeup dumpster diving! You walk in to get groceries and there in the middle of the aisle and a shining light from a makeup angel in heaven…ah yes, divine intervention! lol

I got this Maybelline lipstick, violet vixen 830, for 2.00! The regular price was 5.99. I loved it so much I had to take several selfies as you can see.

Is that all Nikki? Of course not! I checked my budget and made room for these other goodies. All of the lipsticks/glosses were 2.00 and the lip glosses were originally 8.99! I love the midnight blue color. Yes, very bold. Well, that’s it for the makeup dumpster dive! I had makeup all over my hands when I finished searching! It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it!

Fashion Confetti: Frugal Birthday Finds

Essie polish is not cheap. This is why when you find it on clearance or mark down you snatch it up. This was the case at TJMaxx. It was on clearance for 3.00 a bottle. Also the headbands, which I have a hard time finding these were for 2.00 and originally 8.00. I turn the bow to the back and you can’t see it. All are very spring and summery colors.

IMG_20170318_202237

And I went back to Dillards to search for the hot pink shirt I wanted and it was marked down a little more for 22.40. The original price was 64.00.

IMG_20170319_155435

This is me Sunday. My shoes are by Nine & Co and I think they were like 5.00 on clearance some years ago, but I can’t remember where. I always thought they were an odd color and a challenge to match. However, I have worn them a few times with jeans or khakis. The back of the shoe is a teal color and I have not found anything to match it. It worked out great for the shirt and a pair of jeans. My lipstick is by MAC “A Girl About Town.”

Fashion Confetti: A Night Out

img_20170107_121052

The shoes are by Guess, which  I’ve had for sometime, but I purchased them at TJMAXX. The dress is by London Times and my lipstick is Zoe’s Red by L’oreal. I went out to a birthday celebration at IN LOVE’S nightclub here in Memphis, TN. The dj was great. The service and staff was great. The live band, the PC band, was amazing. It was a setting for adults.

Natural Hair:Faux Locs & Makeup

15747627_10155682736688266_3354276197682489785_n

Here is a recent picture of my faux locs and my makeup. I wore them like this for New Year’s Eve to a party. This has been my favorite protective style and I have had the most fun with it. The makeup is an Almay i-Color Combination for green eyes! When I saw it I thought forget it!  I love those colors and it would do just fine for my brown eyes. Sure enough it did! I am not a makeup professional and barely an amateur. However, I try new things, I take my time, I YouTube and Google and play with my makeup. I like to look fabulous and as quick as possible. Please and Thank You. I used a primer and moisturizer on my face which I discovered by accident gives me a natural glow (see how much I know! LOL). On this particular night I did not use any foundation or bronzer/powder. I do not care for foundation and use it sparingly. I always had a problem with eyeliner staying on and then I discovered gel liner. Liquid liner did not work for me either. Thank you makeup gods! (Makeup remover is great, but I take a Q tip and vaseline to remove eyeliner and mascara (Kleenex or towel)). Oh and the lipstick is some glitter lipstick I should have thrown away years ago! (Honestly). I religiously live by the rules I was taught in my one year modeling school stint…take your makeup off before you go to bed!

Here is the Almay and it was on clearance at Target:

Below I shared a picture of the faux locs when I first got them (no make up).
