I was in a grocery store picking out an apples when an elder (could have been an uncle) opened up a conversation about how he loves apples. We talk about apples as we picked a few. He turned to me and said, “You know what I like to do with my apples? I like to slice them thin and put them on my toast! Butter your toast first, add the sliced apples, and cinnamon. That’s it. So, good. When it’s apple season I do this almost every day!” I went home and tried it the next day and I have been doing this around the fall and throughout winter as long as the apples are “good”. I don’t do it every day but it can also be done when you discover an apple isn’t all that “sweet”. I just save it and put it on a toast the next day or two.

You can use one apple for the week. But, I like apples and what I do is slice some off in the morning and eat the rest of the apple at lunch or for a snack with peanut butter or apple butter. I met that man back in 2021. It’s amazing the way strangers can strike up a conversation in the grocery store and you can leave with tips and recipes. As a matter of fact, last week I was told my two women how to cook pork ribs. One way was in the crockpot, the other in the oven and another way was to fry them. Oh, they gave all of the details and I greatly appreciated it. I will be adding them to the crockpot with apples and onions. This is another recipe variation of crockpot/slow cooker pork chops, apples, and onions. It’s a savory meal.

Back to the toast. You can drizzle honey, use brown sugar instead of cinnamon, add chopped nuts, and I have added cheese on top.
