A Weekend Of FASHION CONFETTI

IMG_20200111_013811_519

I have three friends that have birthdays in the month of January and they are all back to back. I had to prepare myself for three events mentally, physically, and FASHIONABLY!

Plus, there was a concert I had tickets to that Sunday. Just know that everything I wore was an item I purchased at a reasonable price, thrifted, or on clearance! I already had these items in my closet.

Sunday

I needed all of this week to recover! And today is the first day I woke up with minimum pain. I had a flare up this week. Three days of restlessness due to pain-somnia (insomnia) due to pain, anxiety, and yesterday depression. Whew! Yet…joy came this morning.

Bra Review & News for D Cups and Up

a_comical_depiction_of_the_top_10_bra_types_640_01

If you have ever shopped Dillard’s for the Cabernet Bra Line you know by now they stopped making them. I was in the store when I discovered this and had a mini meltdown. It was the affordable line (and by affordable I mean under $45) and it was a good everyday bra. I was not willing or able to pay an arm and a leg for boobs. Oh I know it takes more material, etc. etc. for us with big breasts. I get it. We are just now on the verge of beautiful colors and prints. I had been searching for alternatives and saving up for another bra. Yes, saving up. I bought one from a plus size store. It fits, but it hurts after a few hours. Even specialty stores didn’t have my size and when they did…an arm and a leg.

Well, I was in Dillard’s last night and it popped in my head (via the Holy Spirit maybe? Sheer intelligence and curiosity?) to ask the sales lady, “So, what replaced the Cabernet Bra Line?” She said “Oh, Dillard’s has come out with the Modern Movement Bra Line to replace their Cabernet Bra. You should have seen the heavens open up, light shine down around us, and angels sing when she said this to me. She guided me to the line and explained everything. I tried one on and I was “well pleased” enough to buy two!

Here is my review:

The bras have been redesigned and reconstructed for better support and comfort. The red circle shows a different in stitch and I am no expert, but I believe this is to help with the lift. Also, the material is different and better in my un-humble opinion. The stretchy redesign on the side of the bra, under the armpit is fantastic and provides stretch and comfort. I like this because one of my boobs is slightly bigger than the other. And with this bra it adjusted immediately! No more adjusting that one boob!

Slightly wider straps. Just enough to secure. And on the inside of the bra is extra material. This was not in any of the old bras. I am not sure the purpose, but I am sure the designer knows what she/he is doing.

Immediately, you will notice the different design. It is almost like a M shape. When I stepped in front of the mirror I was delighted. And did I mention the material is different? They also have gotten the wireless version in that was so popular with many. I am going to try it, too. I haven’t had much faith in wireless bras.

You can order online if there is not a Dillard’s near you!

Thank you, Dillard’s. Thank you so much!

Just a Little Make up! Fashionably Comfortable & Cute

IMG_20180420_184454

Well, if you have been following my blog you may know that I have Rheumatoid Diseases & Fibromyalgia. BUT, that will not stop be from being the fashionista I’ve always been. Trust, I get it from my mama! You don’t have to look like what you’re going through and you don’t have to spend a fortune or take 3 hours for make up! I just can’t! Not with these hands, arms, shoulders, and you get the picture!

Well, my nephew had a birthday party last Friday at the bowling lanes. It was a last minute decision for me to go. I quickly had to do something with my hair and with natural hair on a bad hair day it was a quick top knot. My lipstick is by Maybelline and the name of it is Violet Vixen. Of course eyebrows and mascara were applied but, no eye shadow. I always choose lipstick and mascara when I am in a rush. Done!

I needed comfortable shoes so I chose my black and white Nikes. I searched my closet for my black and white purse that was given to me years ago. And well there you have it. Oh yeah, the blouse is one I bought on clearance at Target. It’s in under my tab Fashion Confetti in another post.

Enjoy your Thursday aka Friday Jr.!

Fashion Confetti:Liz? Is that You?

img_20170207_112917

I went to JC Penny’s to look for a black pencil skirt. It was on sale and this cute blouse by Liz Claiborne was on clearance. I stayed on budget. I really need to add more blouses to my…dare I say…wardrobe?

You see I have this thing with “blouses” as I am, to nicely put it, “top heavy” (lol!). I don’t like the way most blouses fit me. However, I tried it on and well to my surprise I liked it. Now I wonder how many cute blouses have I passed up because I thought it would “hang on me” and make me look as if I was floating. So, the lesson for me here is to TRY IT ON (I hate trying clothes on, but I hate bringing them back more!).

Fashion Confetti: Winter Warm

Last Sunday was extremely cold in my city. I wore my camel colored thrifted corduroy jacket I think it was either $4-$8. The fingerless gloves were from Urban Outfitters in a clearance bin. Jeans are from TJMaxx at $24.99 (This brand of jeans are always between 19.99-29.99 and the brand is D. Jeans New York). The boots are the $22 dollar pair of knee high boots caught last year on sale at Dillard’s (clearance!). INC long sleeve t-shirt was half off at a Macy’s One Day Sale. Jessica Simpson leaf earrings were on clearance at Dillard’s. Necklace was on clearance from Target.

Fashion Confetti

She sports a natural mohawk and minimum makeup (laughing as I type that!). A Vince Camuto dress purchased at the Macy’s in Las Vegas three years ago for…brace yourselves fashionistas….49.99!!! It was on clearance and in my size! I love this dress because it is really a fall dress and gives the fall so much warmth. It has a belt you that you can wear with or without to give the dress a different look. Also, the sleeves can be worn long or 3/4. The gold chain that ties or not, just gives it class and sass. The shoes are Steve Madden and the purse was borrowed from my mom. She purchased it at the Coach Outlet Factory. I love the way this dress moves on me. Vince Camuto is one of my favorite designers.

Fashion Confetti: The Scarf

I was torn between the scarf and the necklace. I made it work! The slacks are a grey pinstripe (silver stripes). This was literally put together because I did not have anything to go with the pants. I didn’t have a button down or a sweater to pare with it because I had gotten rid of the sweater I normally wear with it. Which reminds, I need to build on sweaters, shirts, and blouses.

Fashion Confetti: RA and Unbreakable Fashion

12096502_10154293733793266_1511876642162303827_n

2015. This was Janet’s last stop on her tour (Memphis) if I am not mistaken before she discovered she was pregnant! It was a great show I will never forget

I’ve wanted to do a blog piece on fashion and RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis and also other illnesses such as Fibromyalgia (which alters what you can and cannot wear at times). I thought this would be the perfect example. In this photo I was forced to compromise a fresh pair of sneakers for my heels because I had surgery late August last year on my right foot due to Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was still healing which took about 7 months and I am still pushing my limits. There are some heels I will never see again and there are some I am still holding out hope for.

I can understand many women who willing gave up heels, but being who I am and my love for all things fashion I wasn’t willing. To each her own! So I did the physical therapy and I took it a step further by doing foot exercises by ballerinas, athletes recovering from foot surgery, and whatever I could YouTube lol!!! Yes, please admire my dedication to heels. (laughing hysterically). However, my gait has changed and I cannot where certain heels (yet? ever? who knows) and also my balance has been off due to damage of RA and Osteoarthritis. But like a captain who goes down with his or her ship is how I plan to go down with my heels! Yet, I have found many fashionable ways to rock my sneakers as I love shoes period!
