Watering Gratitude: Breathe Again

African American Women Under Water by Renee Stengel Photography

I am grateful for the breath of life

I am grateful for my life

I am grateful for purpose

I am grateful for waking up

I am grateful for the light and darkness

I am grateful to be able to see, to feel, to touch, to hear, to smell and to taste

I am grateful to be able to move my temple

I am here

I am alive

I am well

The Spirit of God has made me; The breath of the Almighty gives me life. -Job (The Book of Job 33:4)

Sunday Morning Coffee Musings: Separation or Divorce or Both

This is a time for separation and divorce. And I’m not talking about marriages (although that may be the case). I’m talking about anything or anyone that hinders or distracts you from your purpose, dreams, goals, growth or destiny. I’m talking about your own stinking thinking (mindset, thought patterns). I’m talking about ideals and philosophies and even religious programming that keeps you judgmental, sanctimonious, self-righteous and cult like.

I separated myself from some things and people and it wasn’t personal but it was personal and spiritual. It was necessary and is necessary for my healing and my journey. Spiritual separation where my spirit and emotions aren’t so intertwined. No intimate conversations. Not frequently in each other’s space but cordial. Genuine love and concern. Maybe, there’s a chance for restoration in the future.

Then I divorced some things and some people. Peace. Go your way. May the Lord keep and bless you but, this is a wrap, Beloved. -Nikki

Are You There God? It’s Me, Nikki.

I used to think that when I asked or talked to God about something and God gives me an answer that seems unrelated, way out in left field, God didn’t care about what I was talking about. Since I’ve grown, I have learned that it means these things thus far:

1. I hear you but that’s not the pressing issue right now. We’ll get to that later.

2. I’m telling you this, showing you this, because this is what I want you to focus on.

3. Let me take you forward and then back to what you were talking about and it will all make since soon.

4. This is a piece of the puzzle. Hold that until you find the other piece. Let’s go on an adventure to the answer. Guided footsteps. (Sometimes, I don’t “be” feeling like going though! 😬)

5. That is the answer. Look again.

6. That’s not your business.

7. You wouldn’t understand it right now. Wait until you grow some more.

8. I’ll tell you when you get to the next realm and even then you wouldn’t care as much about it as you do now. So, be at peace with never knowing some things and never understanding some things. (How? Trust God. Accept the peace Jesus willed to us.)

No Spend April: Week 2: Why?

Photo not by me

Why did I need a NO SPEND APRIL? I needed it to reign myself in from the allowed and planned splurge of my birthday month. I needed it to curb my appetite to spend when I am unhappy or the dopamine of finding unbelievable deals. I needed it to not go overboard and it flow into the rest of the year. I needed this to remind me that I have REAL goals and DREAMS and I need to continue to manage my money.

What are the rules for me? No clothes, no shoes, no purses, no jewelry, no make-up, and no beauty products. Oh and no home decor! I can go out. I can enjoy events. I can make purchases for my business.

I have not been to any thrift stores, consignment shops or places I often frequent like TJ MAXX or online for clothes. I tell you that saving those items to my cart helps! LOL By the time I get back to them they will be gone or I will have changed my mind.

I am considering extending this into May to challenge myself. The only thing I did purchase was a Cowgirl hat for the rodeo coming up. The other hats didn’t match my boots. Could I have changed my outfit? I could have. But…I didn’t want to! I was HADES bent on wearing it. I did find a nice hat for $24 bucks and decided to not spend eating out last week or go to an event. Do better, Nikki!

Sunday Morning Coffee Musings: Hello April

Photo by Brigitte Tohm on Pexels.com

Feelings are intense this month. They are meant to guide you, not drive you.

Master something this month. It can be a class. It can be yourself, your mouth, your attitude but, it cannot be someone else or what they are doing. Master something this month. New or something you’ve been dealing with.

There is a loosening of restrictions. Do you want to be free?

You can do anything but you cannot do everything. It is wise to know what you cannot do. It is not a sign of weakness or a lack of intelligence. No man is an island.

The fire is hotter this month. Strike while the iron is hot.

Whatever Wednesday: April’s Lessons

  1. Remember your worth. No matter what is going on, the situation, the relationship, you are worthy. Walk in your worth. Rest in your worth. Walk in your worth means to walk in the confidence or certainty, that you are worthy. You say it. You claim it. When you feel unworthy is the time to OWN IT. Rest in it. After you leave the job, situation, when you get home, in the quiet moments…REST in your worthiness. No matter what happens…YOU ARE STILL WORTHY.
  2. You are worthy to be a priority. People make time for who and what they want. They do not make time for you because they do not want to. If they can shift and move and impromptu everything else…they can do the same for you IF they wanted to.
  3. Some things in life won’t go away in a few days or a few weeks. It won’t be lifted immediately after prayer or meditation. You won’t feel better after exercise. Some things will not be lifted with routine because it’s design for strength training and it’s the opportunity to for you to USE all of your skills, wisdom, experience, and knowledge you have gained. It’s show time, baby.
  4. You get over some things faster because you have grown.
  5. Move from desires to intent and let God, the Creator work out the logistics. Desires are great for visualization. Desires are great for making a list and writing the vision but, INTENT breeds action. Your part is action. My part is writing this blog. God’s part is the logistics. My part is to share it and tag it and boost it. What happens after that is God’s part. The logistics. Logistics- the DETAILED coordination of a COMPLEX operation involving PEOPLE, FACILITIES, or SUPPLIES.

The Heart Epiphany Part 4

benefits-of-black-tea

Self-love is about being HONEST with yourself about yourself, and about others. You may have to admit that you are selfish, petty to the 10th power, maybe you do let people walk all over you, maybe you do think you are better than others, maybe you are lonely, maybe you do have insecurities. MAYBE they don’t love you or respect you. Maybe it is just about sex. Maybe you never wanted to be a physical therapist, nurse, warehouse worker and you really wanted to open a bakery. You may have to admit that you were wrong and that you hurt someone. The truth will set you free but only if you tell the truth to yourself and others. It is hard work.

Organization. The Little Things.

20190917_143535

I admit it. One of the things that I can never seem to keep organized is nail polish and all of the things that I need to do my own manicure and pedicure. It’s more of a challenge for me than ever to do my own pedi and mani because of the problems I have with my hands. I will go to a nail shop when I have the money and when I do not, I have to grin and bear doing it myself.

Which leads me to organization. I know it doesn’t look like having my nail polish in a crate, piled on top each other is “neat”, but I don’t mind it not being organized by color. I am just happy to have it all in one space! So,  I had a tub laying around and decided to put all things pedi and mani in it and add my crate to it. After I gather things from everywhere (linen closet, different buckets, and my room. I now store this underneath the bathroom sink. I actually had NOTHING under there. DUH ME.
