March Bday Madness: Shoe Haul?

IMG_20190320_114113

A shoe haul? An impromptu Charlotte Russe closing? Listen, I didn’t set out to by so many shoes this month, but I did have a budget of what I was going to spend for my birthday. It just so happens the shoe gods, clearance gods, and shoe fairy were in alignment with my pocket! And a few of these I got before my birthday at a reasonable price. Let us begin!

Dillards had an amazing, AH MAY ZING, CLEARANCE and I was in the right place and the right time. I had no idea what was going on when I went. As you can see the original prices on the shoes above are $98 and $110. The pair of boots below were a whopping $169.99 I paid the price marked!

These came from Target. The silver pair were marked as is but nothing was wrong with them! And the red shoes were comfortable and I needed a new pair of red shoes because my old pair have seen better days ūüė¶ They are beyond repair. So the flats were 19.99 and the heels were 24.99. I got these in February. If you are in Target and you see a size 9 in ANYTHING cute you may as well get it because size nines go fast. I barely found the red heels when I cam back. In fact, I had to go to another store.

Once again, these were a sacrifice. I purchased some black and nude heels at JC Penny (clearance!) a while back and I have been unable to wear them. They are cute. I may have blogged them, but I cannot wear them. Yes, I tried them on and thought over time they would become comfortable. NOT. And that is okay because someone will benefit from them. I made the mistake of trying on a pair of Calvin Klein heels and just wow! Immediate comfort and style. Just a basic pair of black heels. I did find them $10 cheaper at TJ Maxx than at Nordstrom’s The Rack.

And last, but not least I took my daughter back to the mall to exchange some items. We were walking and she said, “Whoa! What’s going on at Charlotte Russe?” Well, they are closing stores. Everything in there was 50-70% off and these shoes were 70% off. I also picked up some jewelry that was 70% off.

Did I go over my budget? I did! I also found clothing and I will present that haul next week. Hey, no one is perfect and I now I have to scale back and save up to restore the over the limit amount. I can’t say I am sorry about it because well, a splurge or two happens and it was my birthday…month.

Fashion Confetti: $40

img_20170215_190324

I need a pair of dull black heels, no shine, and very comfortable. Many time my illness can make my very high heels impossible. These are peep toe and comfortable, stylish, but just like a woman, I still need a pair that is not peep toe lol! Men don’t have so many options, so I think they are not qualified to ask “Why do you have so many shoes?” There are so many colors, so many occasions, so many…options….. (ha ha ha….but true!). I purchased them from JCPenny’s. A $60 pair of shoes on clearance for $17.99. Liz again and they feel so good to my feet. Also, I want to point out that before my illness I always varied wearing my heels, which I like high. Wearing high and very high heels can damage your feet, toes, knees, hips, and back over a period of time. I think this may be one reason I can still wear them with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I had surgery on my foot a few years ago because of Rheumatoid. So, take it from a shoe fanatic…every day, 8 hours a day, is not a good look. Give your feet a rest. Treat them to pedicures, massages, cute flats and fly sneakers.

I always thought going into Talbots with my Mom as a child was for the classy and mature crowd. I go ¬†with her and I am starting to find some things I like. Am I getting older??? Of course! But my style has always been hard to pin down. Especially, since I go with how I feel and the occasion. Talbots makes you feel so special when they wrap your items! This was and amazing deal 59.50 for 11.85!!!! Faints…

I have black and gold earrings made with a pointy end and I thought this would go nice with it for 5.99.

Fashion Confetti: Shopping Your Closet: Mix it Up

So here I wanted to be comfortable for an evening of hanging outside with friends. It is fall and the weather will be cooler as night creeps in. I put my white T-shirt, with a white jean jacket (since I don’t abide my the after Labor Day Rule of no white…some rules are meant to be broken!) from Jones New York Outlet for $27 in 2015. I paired them with jeans, my “chucks” or Converse (which were an $80 pair of shoes I got from Urban Outfitters on clearance for $30 a few years ago). My coach purse is from the Coach Outlet as well! Every thing in this photo was on sale, marked down or clearance.

I wanted to show how you how I shopped my closet and made another outfit by removing pieces and adding pieces.

Same pair of jeans and white T-shirt, but I removed the jean jacket and added a black knit sweater and wedged ankle boots. Easy! A casual date night outfit or out with friends and family to dinner. And yes…the Aerosoles shoes were on sale. (Very comfy for those of us with RA and Fibromyalgia).

Confetti Weekend: SURPRISE! HAIR FEST

14317521_10155288438848266_3159400551606929491_n

Imagine my surprise when I showed up to Court Square to get a feel for a group performing to potentially write a blog for them and the first thing I see are the ladies below. This is when I discovered this was a hair show with a theme to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital one of my favorite charities. My mom is retired from St. Jude and I spent many summers there as a child running around in the out patient department. I snapped as many pictures as I could and I got as much information as I could. So hold on to your roots…here we go!

First up to bat, pun intended, was Suicide Squad. A young group of hair students competing in a competition.

The next group of students and young hair stylists were just as unique and creative. They were from Empire School of Beauty School.

The crowd was in total awe of the students’ creations from both teams. Empire walked away winners but, really both teams were winners. Anytime you lend your talent to support a charity how can you lose?

Some of the amazing vendors on display with their products and creations:

Models for Goddess-Guleoir mood: If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready!

So, I’m under the tent finishing up my Chicken on a Stick from Runway Grill, and I look up to see more hair models getting some ¬†Parker’s Water Ice.

I say to myself: “Is that? Yes it is honey.” Keith Turks from The Real Hairstylists of Memphis. Immediately I knew I was in for a slay. As I mentioned earlier, I had no idea what I was walking into.

After getting my dance on in Court Square, because Keith Turks and models brought the beats, I decided now would be a good time for Cupcake Cutie. It’s only a few steps away from Court Square. Choose a a cupcake and pick an icing. I chose the lemon cupcake and strawberry icing.

One more vendor all the way from St.Louis, Brittany Raji. I am so glad I met her! @BeautyImpactAccesories on Instagram

My evening here concluded with the group I came to see,

20160918_161029

Hothouse Gruv took us back, and way back ¬†with 90’s music. They came to show out with energy and a live wire performance! The dancers gave their all and talent was displayed in each member. It was great to end my evening as I headed to another even with a party on still on my mind.

Last but, definitely not least in any shape form or fashion is Stephanie Brown. She put this amazing show together and announced she will be joining Season 2 of The Real Hair Stylists of Memphis! Please stay in touch with Stephanie Brown by following her on Instagram @beautyonbeale, contacting her at Style Coach Forever  and Stephanie Brown @stylecoachforever on Facebook.
