DIY with What You Have Spring/Summer Wreath

A bamboo wreath from Dollar Tree, which I already had.

Leftover twine and tweed-like ribbon from a “cowboys & girls” themed party, tape, butterfly ornament and flowers picked up on an essential run to Dollar Tree.

I tied three pieces of twine together like a long rope and wrapped it around the wreath, then securing both ends with tape. I did the same with the other twine ribbon.

The bamboo wreath has slithers of space and after I cut the flowers I stuck them in those spaces. It took some maneuvering and rearranging them to get the look I wanted. It took about an hour and a half to finish. As usual, it may not take you as long. My hands were a mildly achy during this task. However, I was determined to finish. I try to make my spring wreath one that can be used throughout summer. It saves on money, time, and work.

Crocheted Vacay Shawls: Officially Known as Travel Shawls

Well, the shawl epidemic all started when a package arrived for me from Italy. It was yarn my cousin sent to me as she is stationed there are is a knitter. She had no idea turquoise was my favorite color. It took me a while to figure out what you make and by the time I got around to it Summer showed up and skipped Spring here in Memphis, TN. I decided to make a shawl for the beach. The colors were appropriate! It reminded me of the ocean.

I completed it and was delighted. I then was ask to make another one. The inspiration was a poster board I had and I decided to name this one Sunrise.

The one below reminds me of Spring. Eclectic Spring. I like to name my inspirations! These are great for travel in the Spring and Summer because they are breathable shawls yet, they are able to keep you cozy and stylish on a plane, train, or automobile. Cool mornings or late nights on a breezy beach or lake.

I do make these to sale and yes, I do ship!

Creative Confetti! Arts and Crafts Anyone?

IMG_20170522_100326_879

This weekend I had no plans and I was happy about it! I got a call from my friend Alicia and she wanted to know if I wanted to craft a summer wreath. I was happy to do this because this is not work. Plus, I like spending time with Alicia. She’s crafty and artsy so we vibe well. I had no idea what kind of wreath I was going to make and I am on a very very tight budget.

I had a foam wreath I bought last year on sale at Michael’s. It took forever, ever, for me to do this wreath and this is why many of them cost so much depending on the material and the time. It also depends on the size and type of wreath.

I left the material torn and weathered because this is beachy theme wreath. It’s a vibrant, driftwood, sandy, oceanic, type wreath with a bit of fun and a hint bling. I am so glad my hands did not swell doing this project (I have rheumatoid arthritis dis-ease). I had no idea what I was doing because I have never done one like this. I just went my own imagination and creative flow. I really love it.

I had piece of burlap ribbon left and I wrapped it around a relish jar to use for my bobby pins. It matches the decor in my bathroom.  (No scraps left behind!)
