A shoe haul? An impromptu Charlotte Russe closing? Listen, I didn’t set out to by so many shoes this month, but I did have a budget of what I was going to spend for my birthday. It just so happens the shoe gods, clearance gods, and shoe fairy were in alignment with my pocket! And a few of these I got before my birthday at a reasonable price. Let us begin!
Dillards had an amazing, AH MAY ZING, CLEARANCE and I was in the right place and the right time. I had no idea what was going on when I went. As you can see the original prices on the shoes above are $98 and $110. The pair of boots below were a whopping $169.99 I paid the price marked!
These came from Target. The silver pair were marked as is but nothing was wrong with them! And the red shoes were comfortable and I needed a new pair of red shoes because my old pair have seen better days 😦 They are beyond repair. So the flats were 19.99 and the heels were 24.99. I got these in February. If you are in Target and you see a size 9 in ANYTHING cute you may as well get it because size nines go fast. I barely found the red heels when I cam back. In fact, I had to go to another store.
Once again, these were a sacrifice. I purchased some black and nude heels at JC Penny (clearance!) a while back and I have been unable to wear them. They are cute. I may have blogged them, but I cannot wear them. Yes, I tried them on and thought over time they would become comfortable. NOT. And that is okay because someone will benefit from them. I made the mistake of trying on a pair of Calvin Klein heels and just wow! Immediate comfort and style. Just a basic pair of black heels. I did find them $10 cheaper at TJ Maxx than at Nordstrom’s The Rack.
And last, but not least I took my daughter back to the mall to exchange some items. We were walking and she said, “Whoa! What’s going on at Charlotte Russe?” Well, they are closing stores. Everything in there was 50-70% off and these shoes were 70% off. I also picked up some jewelry that was 70% off.
Did I go over my budget? I did! I also found clothing and I will present that haul next week. Hey, no one is perfect and I now I have to scale back and save up to restore the over the limit amount. I can’t say I am sorry about it because well, a splurge or two happens and it was my birthday…month.
Spring is almost here and it’s time to at least begin the process of putting away fall/winter decor, getting rid of excessive items, and pulling out some of your spring clothing items while putting away your heavy coats. It’s a back and forth on clothing items until spring settle ins. Also, for many it’s time to plant and get their yard prepped. I am renting the condo I am in and I have not been in the mood to plant a garden here. However, it is a definite need to keep the small yard cut and weeded. I have never seen a weed problem like this one in my life! I will opt for potted plants.
My home always has a beachy theme or feel. My favorite colors are in the turquoise family. However, I wanted less of the turquoise and more of something else. I was ready to go out of my comfort zone for the living room/downstairs area. I went with the leftover royal blue glasses and the new color apple green. I am still working on the details, adding in some different variations of the colors, and keeping a hint of the beach present. EVERYTHING remaining inexpensive, clearance, dollar store finds, under $20, and reusing what I already have. A can of spray paint can do wonders for items you find that do not match your decor or items you are almost sick of looking at. Paint them and then next year you can sell them, paint them again or give them away.
In the photo above the plates and glasses were purchaed from the Dollar Tree. The napkins and mats were on clearance at Steinmart. I bought the apples from Michael’s. The painting was created by me!
The photo below: The Relax sign was $3 from Target and the green dog was 50% off from At Home store and so is the winker round/cone shape thing. Everything else is what I already had.
So far downstairs this is all I have done. I have learned to start early as I can tire easily or flare up. So, I go with the flow and when the flow is high I max it out and when it’s low I get a few things crossed off the list like taking down pictures or dusting and organizing or getting magazines ready for recycling. One thing I have found with this decorating scheme is I don’t have as much as I though I had to make it complete. I will have to scavenge clearance and low cost items to make it solid. I really want a few rugs. We will see!
There is nothing, and I mean nothing better than a great clearance finds when you are a girl like me on a very very tight budget! It makes you feel like champagne! All bubbly and sparkly on the inside. As I fight off debt and try to save, there are ways to to still get a bit of shopping in here and there. And as I often preach, quality on clearance is winning.
Nail polish by Sally Hansen. Two colors that can flow right into Spring and Summer. Edgy earrings by Steve Madden. I love these and I have worn them with several outfits already. I got these before Christmas one weekend along with two more pair I will blog about I am sure. And my favorite find during Dillard’s Big Shoe Clearance are these sparkly pair of sandals by one of my favorite shoe designers Gianni Bini. They are so comfortable and can really set off a cute summer dress or a pair of skinny jeans.
I love to go makeup dumpster diving! You walk in to get groceries and there in the middle of the aisle and a shining light from a makeup angel in heaven…ah yes, divine intervention! lol
I got this Maybelline lipstick, violet vixen 830, for 2.00! The regular price was 5.99. I loved it so much I had to take several selfies as you can see.
Is that all Nikki? Of course not! I checked my budget and made room for these other goodies. All of the lipsticks/glosses were 2.00 and the lip glosses were originally 8.99! I love the midnight blue color. Yes, very bold. Well, that’s it for the makeup dumpster dive! I had makeup all over my hands when I finished searching! It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it!
