I was never a fan of the heat of Summer which is why at one point I loathed the Summer but embraced it when it was time to be out of school. It wasn’t until a few years ago I heard or read something about embracing all seasons of the year. I think I wrote a blog post titled, “What Has Summer Ever Done To You?”

Summer hadn’t done anything personally to me. I just hated the heat but loved the sunny skies and the freedom that came with it. I didn’t and I still do not like the bugs or heat. But, I lean into summer. I have become a little more tolerant of the heat. I tolerate the heat of summer and celebrate the season. And very well, I may add. However, as soon as September shows up I want to remove all summer decor and prepare my porch, patio, and home for fall. I swing open the doors and welcome fall with open arms! Summer has to let itself in. Sorry, summer. I love you.

This year I was over summer as soon as September arrived. I put up my fall decor. I know summer is still here. But, can’t two things be true at the same time? Summer is present outside but, fall is already in my heart and mind. I want to cozy up and be left to things of hygge and cooler weather activities. I enjoy getting out and about in fall. I am making my list of soups and chillies to make. I am combing recipe books for cakes and cookies and hearty home cooked meals. I am looking for coffees, teas, smoothies and frappes to whip and whirl into yummy bliss!

Yes, I enjoyed summer grilling, fresh fruits and veggies, smoothies, icy drinks and cocktails. Yes, I enjoyed the full bloom of my flower garden and the vibrant colors of summer. Oh and the fashion. I love having my toes out, lol. So, with one sandal in summer and one fuzzy sock in autumn, here I stand.
